Comic-Con News: 'Tron,' 'Scott Pilgrim' Lead Thursday Film Lineup

Strap on your energy shield and grab your power battery, because Comic-Con has begun announcing its programming schedule for this year's mega-event, and based on Thursday's lineup, it's shaping up to be a four-color doozy. On top of the ever-expanding list of Hollywood projects looking to get a boost from the trend-making geek set: Michael Cera's romantic superhero comedy 'Scott Pilgrim vs. The World,' Sylvester Stallone's bone-crunching inside joke 'The Expendables' and the big daddy of them all, 'Tron: Legacy.'

Those aren't the only big pictures in the big picture, though. Joining 'Scott Pilgrim' on the Thursday lineup are fellow comics adaptations 'Red' and 'A Clockwork Girl,' while Dreamworks dips their animated toes into the comic book genre with 'Megamind,' a tale of good vs. evil told from the villain's point of view.

Here's a schedule of Thursday's highlights for the Comic-Con film fanatic:

Dreamworks rolls out the supervillain character piece 'Megamind' at 10AM, with voice stars Will Ferrell, Tina Fey and Jonah Hill on hand to answer diabolical questions and screen Earth-saving footage, beginning at 10AM.

At 11AM, you can catch a sneak peek at the Luximation animated adaptation of the graphic novel 'A Clockwork Girl. But we have a feeling that panel might sadly be sparsely attended due to a little bit of competition we like to call the Walt Disney Company: The much-ballyhooed 'Tron: Legacy' preview will kick off at 11:15AM, with stars Jeff Bridges, Michael Sheen and Olivia Wilde among those on hand for the festivities.

Film fans will get a chance to relax and catch their breaths after the 90-minute 'Tron' marathon, but in the afternoon, it's back to business, as Sony has a double feature at 2PM with looks at 'Salt' and 'Battle: Los Angeles.' As an added bonus: Stars from the latter film, including Aaron Eckhart and Michelle Rodriguez, will be answering questions.

With movies and television shows increasingly driving the action at Comic-Con, it seems rare these days to stumble upon projects that are actually based on comic books. But that's just what Summit Entertainment is pushing this year with 'Red,' a thriller starring Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Karl Urban and Mary-Louise Parker, based a graphic novel by comics provocateur Warren Ellis. Fans interested in getting the scoop straight from the stars -- and director Robert Schwentke -- will have the chance at 2:15PM.

The cast of Lionsgate's paean to B-movie action flicks, 'The Expendables,' will be turning out in full force at 4:45PM, with Sly Stallone himself being joined by Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Steve Austin and Terry Crews. They will personally kick your butt if you ask a dumb question, so watch yourself, punk.

Finally, 'Scott Pilgrim vs. The World' finishes a strong first day, with pretty much the whole cast turning out at 6PM for a walkthrough of Universal's comic adaptation. Michael Cera leads a group that also includes 'Twilight's' Anna Kendrick and Superman himself, Brandon Routh ('Superman Returns').

And if this all seems like too much to process in one day, don't worry: Cinematical's Erik Davis will be on hand at the Masters of the Web panel at 3PM to decode everything for you. Check out Cinematical's Comic-Con coverage here.
