"Duets" star Kelly Clarkson will help make dreams come true on her new ABC series when she sings with contestants, but she's already had her dream duet.

"It was Reba!" Clarkson told The Huffington Post on the red carpet for the ABC/EW party. Clarkson and country superstar Reba McEntire are both headlining shows on ABC. "Yeah, we're like family. Not label-mates, but network-mates -- it's awesome," she said.

Clarkson's fellow "Duets" mentor Robin Thicke had a more romantic duet in mind.

"My dream duet would have to be my wife," Thicke said about wife, actress Paula Patton. "Any time she wants to put on lingerie, run around and sing with me, I'm ready for it."

Why lingerie? Well, Thicke said, "it makes for a better duet."

Both Thicke and Clarkson are reality singing competition veterans. Fox's "American Idol" launched Clarkson to fame and she appeared as a mentor, along with Thicke, on NBC's "The Voice" this season. But all that experience wasn't that useful, according to Clarkson.

"Honestly, I thought I was going to be way more prepared, but this show is a completely different animal behind the scenes," she said. "It's just -- it's harder. It's a lot more work for all the stars on it because we're performing with two different people, plus we're doing extra things on the show with each other and it's like you're trying to get them through the competition, and thinking strategy because you're trying to make a great artistic show. It's a lot of work."

Thicke said being in the music business was the best preparation.

"I think the thing that prepares [me] for 'Duets' is I've been making music for 20 years and that I love it and it's my life," he said. "We all take the music very seriously, once you've lived it that way, you just take it seriously. And then you also remember how much fun it is to do it. We're having a lot of fun, but we're also trying to make it good, entertaining, television."

'Happy Endings': Casey Wilson Talks Season 3 And Her Starbucks Encounter

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/16/happy-endings-casey-wilson-interview_n_1520715.html#comments

"Happy Endings" has some ahmahzing, passionate fans, which is something Casey Wilson, who plays the "ahmahzing" Penny, knows very well.

Entering its third season, ABC's "Happy Endings" has picked up a vocal and dedicated group of fans that have championed the show as it struggled to find an audience. It aired after "Modern Family" this past season, but the show moves to Tuesdays, as does "Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23." But its new timeslot doesn't come without some competition. The show is going up against Fox's adorkable hit "New Girl."

At the EW/ABC upfront party red carpet, Wilson shared her "Happy Endings" Season 3 hopes -- the return of Brian Austin Green? -- thoughts on the new timeslot and her awkward Starbucks situation.

I'm a little embarassed -- no, I'm not embarrassed, I say "ahmahzing" in real life.
Don't be embarrassed, be proud. Be loud and proud.

Have you worked on any other catchphrases for Season 3?
I haven't worked on some, but I'm going to try and come up with something. I can't let it lay there.

Adam [Pally] said you're trying to abbreviate everything.
Yeah, the abbrevs. The abbrevs have taken over.

What do you want to see happen with Penny?
I think it would be fun for her to date someone just because I think it would be relatable how she drives it into the ground with her paranoias and insecurities and low self-esteem.

We last saw Penny with Brian Austin Green -- is he coming back?
He may come back. B.A.G., we call him.

We can put it out there.
I'm going to put it out there like a vision board to the universe, like "The Secret."

You have such passionate fans. Do they come up and quote you and stuff?
You know what? They're so sweet -- everyone is so genuine and sweet, but this weird thing just happened and actually, I've never told anyone this. OK, I went to Starbucks and the baristo -- I'm going to put an "o" on the end of that, it's a man -- was so sweet, a really nice guy. He was like, "I love the show!" I said, "Oh, that's so sweet. That's wonderful." Then he started tweeting at me, but I don't always respond to every fan, and then it turned so dark on Twitter. He was like, "I used to love you, but now I realize you don't respond to your fucking fans." I was like, "Buddy, what? We had such a nice relationship back in the 'Bucks, face-to-face!"

Now you can never go back there again.
I haven't gone back! But it's a block away from my house. What do I do?

You're going to have to learn his schedule.
His schedule! How did it turn sour? We had such a nice interaction, I was like, "This is getting so strange." But every single other fan has been so wonderful and they love the show.

How do you feel about your new timeslot?
I feel good! I'm excited we get to open the night. I love "The Bitch In Apartment 23." I think it's so funny, so I'm excited about that.

And you're going up against "New Girl" on Fox.
It's weird. Jake Johnson is one of my oldest friends. He's on that show, so we're just like, texting about it and joking. I just hope that they both do well. I truly do. All of our friends are on that show too. It's almost a shame because they're both such great shows. My dad had a fix for it. He texted me and goes, "I think what everyone should do is DVR them both." That doesn't make sense. That's not how you get ratings.

I mean if they have a Nielsen box and then play it back within seven days ...
It's all so convoluted. He was basically like, "That'll make it all OK." I was like, "Great advice, Dad. Thank you."

"Happy Endings" returns for Season 3, Tuesdays, 9 p.m. ET on ABC in the fall. Get your DVRs ready.

"Once Upon a Time" in a land far, far away, Evil Queen Regina (Lana Parrilla) lost one of the only things she's ever loved: her son.

In the Season 1 finale, the curse was broken and the residents of Storybrooke got their memories back, much to the delight of Regina's adopted son Henry (Jared S. Gilmore), whose real mother Emma (Jennifer Morrison) finally learned the truth. With Season 1 under her belt, Parrilla told The Huffington Post during upfronts week in New York that she's anxious for some insight into what's in store for her deliciously evil character.

"I'd love to see what happens between Henry and Regina," Parrilla said. "Ultimately for her, that has been the driving point -- the threat of losing her son -- and now it's actually happened. I'd love to see how that relationship salvages."

Ginnifer Goodwin, who plays Snow White/Mary Margaret, one of the thorn's in Regina's side, mother to Emma and grandmother to Henry, said she's also looking forward to dealing with another relationship.

"I'm mostly looking forward to how Emma and Snow White are going to bridge their relationship, the gap that has been these 28 years that Emma has gone motherless," Goodwin said. "I'm anxious to see what's going to happen there."

The season ended with magic being restored to the world, and Regina is ready to work that mojo. "I mean, if it takes magic to get Henry back then so be it."

Parrilla might play the Evil Queen, but she isn't like her character. If magic existed in the real world, she said she'd put that power to good use.

"I don't know if I'd do a spell, I think I would. It sounds silly, but I think I would try and help a lot of people in the world," Parrilla said. "It seems cliche, but honestly, that's what I'd try to do. I would definitely use it for good and not for evil."

Over the course of "Once Upon a Time" Season 1, viewers have met classic characters like Maleficent, Belle, Pinocchio and Cinderella, but there's one character the actors are really hoping for in Season 2.

"Jack and the Beanstalk, I'd love to see," Josh Dallas, who plays Prince Charming, told reporters on the red carpet of the ABC/EW upfronts party. "I'd love to see that." Goodwin and Parrilla agreed.

"I mean, 'Ho, ho, ho, hum.' It's just fun," Parrilla said. "It's something I always remembered as a kid. It's one of my favorite stories. I remember seeing an animated version of it, I can't remember how -- it may have been some Disney version or some like 'Looney Tunes' version of it -- I just remember being like 'Oh my god, he's climbing up that beanstalk and now he's entering a different realm!' It's just a fascinating story to me."

"Fashion Star" wraps up Season 1 with its big finale on Tues., May 15 (10 p.m. ET on NBC), but host and executive producer Elle Macpherson is already looking toward the future.

At the NBC upfront presentation in New York this week, Macpherson told The Huffington Post that there could be some changes when the show returns for a Season 2.

"I think we're going to jerk things around a little bit and you have to watch the space," Macpherson said when asked if all the judges will return. "We've done a great job and NBC has been 100 percent behind us. America's been behind this program."

When pressed for specific details on the changes afoot, Macpherson remained coy. "You're going to have to watch the space," she said.

The reality series features designers competing for a chance to have their clothing sold at reputable retail stores and Macpherson said the sales have been great.

"From a business perspective, it's great to see a program like this taking off on NBC," she said.

Check out a preview of the finale below.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/14/smash-season-finale-megan-hilty-ivy-season-2_n_1515474.html#comments

On the "Smash" finale, Megan Hilty's character Ivy Lynn was [SPOILER ALERT] last seen with a handful of pills in her hand as Katharine McPhee's Karen Cartwright wrapped her big star-making performance as Marilyn Monroe in the fictional musical "Bombshell."

Will Ivy meet a very Marilyn-esque end? Don't bet on it.

"Well, I'm here," Hilty told The Huffington Post with a laugh on the red carpet for NBC's Upfront presentation on Monday, just hours before the finale aired. Hilty was part of the assembled cast in attendance to promote the show's Season 2, which will debut midseason on NBC.

For "Smash's" sophomore season, Hilty said she hopes that Ivy keeps the pills behind in her past and finds happiness.

"I want to see Ivy kind of get it together a little bit and have something she can really celebrate and not feel threatened by anything," Hilty said. "I would also like to see her have a nice boyfriend, one who's like really nice to her."

Hilty also has one big dream guest star for Season 2: her "9 to 5" co-star Allison Janney.

"I am petitioning for Allison Janney to be a guest star -- recurring guest star, hopefully," Hilty said. "She's amazing. There's nothing she can't do and she's the nicest person on the planet."

"Smash" Season 1 ended with McPhee's character getting the coveted role in "Bombshell," which had a successful opening in Boston. Will "Smash" Season 2 see the show head to New York City or the gestation of a new musical?

"I haven't heard officially, but -- just in terms of the longevity of the television show -- I think at some point, we're going to produce a new musical, yeah," said Christian Borle, who plays Tom, one of the creators of the Marilyn Monroe musical on "Smash." What can Borle reveal?

"What I know is going to happen on some level is my relationship with Debra [Messing, who plays Julia, his writing partner] is going to get closer and maybe have a little bit more fun," he said. "And you'll get to see more of the behind the scenes parts of what it takes to write a musical. People want a little bit more of that."

According to Borle, Season 2 will also see a different approach to the musical numbers, including who gets to perform them. Borle's performance of "Don't Say Yes Until I Finish Talking" was well-received and he said he hopes to have another chance in the spotlight in Season 2.

"And I think that that will happen," he said. "I think that they were looking to expand who performs and how often people are performing. I think they're really looking at interesting new ways to introduce numbers."

Critical reception to "Smash" has been mixed. Though it debuted to strong reviews, including one from HuffPost TV, the show eventually began to experience growing pains. Having filmed most of the season before debut, fans were left to just, well, hate-watch in some cases. Season 2 will see some changes, including a new showrunner in "Gossip Girl's" Josh Safran.

"It's actually really remarkably fun to see the passionate outpouring reaction to the show," Borle said. "People could just dismiss it, but they're not dismissing it. I think people are going to be very excited to see where we go. Josh Safran sat down and talked about where we're going to go. He cares so much about this world and these people and he's coming at it with an interesting perspective. He's going to address a lot of what people are talking about."

Starring "The Book of Mormon's" Andrew Rannells as Bryan and Justin Bartha as David, "The New Normal" follows the Beverly Hills couple as they try to start a family. The two turn to a surrogate, Goldie (Georgia King), with Ellen Barkin co-starring as Goldie's Archie Bunker-esque grandma. So where does NeNe come in?

"I'm Rocky, one of the gay guy's assistants," NeNe told The Huffington Post on the red carpet for NBC's upfront presentations in New York on Monday. "I take it very personal, honey, if you talk about my gays, honey. Only I can talk about them and I'm fabulous.

"She's very different from Roz Washington on 'Glee'; she's always in workout outfits and sneakers. Rocky wears high heels every day. This is very fitting for me because in my real life, you don't mess with my gays, honey," NeNe said, snapping. "I don't play that."

King was a little out of the loop when it came to NeNe and her stardom. "I'm from London ... everyone was absolutely losing their shit meeting NeNe ... at the table read everyone was like, 'Oh my god' and I felt so ignorant and everyone was taking pictures of NeNe going, 'Oh my god, I'm going to Twitter it!' So I was going, 'I should take one too!'"

Since then, King said she's done her homework. "I've done a little research and I'm with the goddess from Atlanta. I'm aware of these things. I'm learning very quickly. To be fair, NeNe shouldn't be offended I didn't know who she was because I just met somebody and I didn't know who he was and I was like to my agent, 'Remind me, who is that?' And she was like, 'It's Donald Trump.'"

NeNe, who also appeared in a season of Donald Trump's "Celebrity Apprentice," said she wants to keep all of her TV projects going.

"I hope to stay on 'Glee,' I hope to still be a' Housewife' and I hope to do 'The New Normal.' I just want to do it all!" she said. "Why not? I'm only going to be young for a little while longer."

"America's Got Talent" is getting a hearty dose of Howard Stern for Season 7 (premiering Monday, May 14 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC) and host Nick Cannon and judge Howie Mandel welcomed the new dynamic.

"He's great man, it's like one big happy family," Cannon told The Huffington Post at the NBC upfronts about the show's new dynamic.

Stern joined the judges panel for Season 7 after Piers Morgan left to focus on his CNN talk show. But don't expect any shock jock antics. "'America's Got Talent' is a family show, and I have been disrespecting family values for years," Stern joked at a recent press conference. "I respect what 'AGT' is. It's a family show. I've been watching it for years ... it's a different form of entertainment ... I know the rules ... I'm 58 years old!"

Mandel said working with Stern is a mutually respectful friendship. "It's like summer camp, honestly. Like you look forward to it," he told HuffPost at the upfronts. "This summer we get to hang out with each other and we're all over the country. You can't ask for more.

"To be witness to people creating entertainment -- not necessarily specifically singing or dancing -- and watch them become household names and maybe even be part of it in our constructive criticism, has been nothing but a joy," Mandel said.

Over the years, "America's Got Talent" has brought may acts to the American public. From Prince Poppycock to jugglers, "AGT" is not just a singing and dance competition and after years of seeing hundreds of people, there are a few who have left quite the impression on Cannon.

"I would say Sponjetta. She came on -- a singer/songwriter that we met in Atlanta -- and she had a song about her studio," Cannon said when asked about the show's memorable acts. "And of course, Jackie Evancho. She shows that these shows actually do discover talent and actually go on. She's going to be around for the next 50 years doing what she did and the first place you saw her was on 'America's Got Talent.'"

"America's Got Talent" premieres Monday, May 14 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.

"Community" is moving to Friday nights, which some consider a death sentence, but series star Joel McHale is not complaining about the new location.

"I'm thrilled to be on the air," McHale told The Huffington Post on the red carpet of NBC's Upfront presentation. "I'm just glad the show is back. I think we have a lot left to do so I'm very happy."

NBC is shifting "Community" to Fridays at 8:30 p.m. ET when the fan favorite comedy kicks off its 13-episode Season 4 in the fall. "Community" will be joined by "Whitney" and lead-in to "Grimm."

"I still have never met Whitney Cummings. I've got to meet her," McHale said of his new lead in. "And we're leading 'Grimm.' Our show is very similar to 'Grimm.' We fight supernatural crime. You won't be able to tell where 'Community' begins and 'Grimm' starts or ends, whatever it is."

But will the diehard fans follow "Community" to Fridays? "Well, dear god, I hope so," McHale said. "The Soup" host knows a thing or two about ratings woes. He said his E! series received more viewers over the weekend than when it airs original episodes during the week and "Community" has always been a strong DVR player.

"'Community's' one of the most DVRed shows on television ... They're learning how to measure all that stuff, which they still don't have it totally down," he said. "Obviously I want there to be an 'American Idol'-like audience and I want people to DVR it. I've said all the correct things in the right way, right?"

McHale will be back for Season 4, but series creator Dan Harmon's time with "Community" in question. After a public feud with co-star Chevy Chase, both Harmon and Chase's futures with the show have been up in the air. Chase has been vocal about his dislike for the show's comedic voice and Harmon's contract has expired. McHale said he hopes Harmon will return to the series.

"I got on a plane and when I got off the plane here in New York yesterday, I had like 500 @ mentions," he said. "I was like, 'Oh, something must have happened! Let's find out.' Obviously I don't know anything. Dan created the show, is the voice of the show, so a scenario without him would be pretty crazy. I don't know what all the issues are, but I pray to god that it works out."

"Community" super-size three-episode finale airs Thursday at 8 p.m. , 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. ET on NBC.

"Smash" has come a long way since the days of "Let Me Be Your Star" and the season finale truly reveals the TV show's evolution. In "Bombshell" (Mon., May 14, 10 p.m. ET on NBC), Rebecca Duvall (Uma Thurman) has officially left the musical, leaving Ivy (Megan Hilty) and Karen (Katharine McPhee) in competition for the coveted role once again.

There are guest stars, new songs and flashbacks to days of yore (mainly the daydreamy performances like "20th Century Fox Mambo" and "The National Pastime") and the episode feels more like the "Smash" viewers first met during the first few episodes. We won't reveal who gets the role, but the tidbits below should tide you over. And don't fret, "Smash" will return for a second season on NBC.

The fate of a character is in question. There's a cliffhanger, naturally. A character has a Marilyn Monroe-esque moment that is sure to bring some drama to Season 2.

Somebody does get the role. Yes, after all the Ivy/Karen/Rebecca twists and turns, a woman takes the stage as Marilyn Monroe. And she -- or he -- nails it. Just kidding, it's definitely a woman.

The guest stars return. However, Bernadette Peters and Nick Jonas don't steal the spotlight, which is fitting considering everything the performers of "Bombshell" have been through.

There's a new scarf. Eileen sports a new red neck accessory for most of the episode, including during a very wonderful scene (for fans of Eileen and haters of a certain character). For more on the scarves of "Smash," click through the slideshow below.

The last song will have you ... 1) On your feet. 2) Crying. 3) Cheering. 4) All of the above? There weren't tears here, but there were some excited giggles and the feeling of being blown away, something that has been missing since the end of the pilot.

"Smash" has given us so much: Wonderful songs, terribly uneven storylines and scarves. So many scarves.

As noted almost weekly in Christopher Rosen's "Smash" eyeroll recaps, the show is a treasure trove of hilariously bad tropes, but we can always count on the neckwear to be consistent. Are they keeping their vocal chords warm for singing? Is that a thing? Or is it just a fashion statement being strangled to death on screen? From the everyday scarves to the performance neck warmers, almost every character on the series -- extras included -- has worn a scarf at some point.

The curtain is closing on "Smash" Season 1 (it'll be back, with an abundance of new accessories we're sure, for a second season), but before the finale, relive the season and all its gloriously frustrating scarves below.

Please note: These are just the publicity stills NBC released, there have been many more scarves on the series.
In the "Parks and Rec" season finale, "Win, Lose or Draw" (Thurs., May 10, 9:30 p.m. ET on NBC), it's finally election day in Pawnee.
Note: Do not read on if you have not seen Season 3, Episode 22 -- the season finale -- of CBS's "The Good Wife," entitled "The Dream Team."

Tequila shots are on me, Alicia and Kalinda are back ... but for how long? "The Dream Team" brought Patti Nyholm and Louis Canning together to take down Lockhart/Gardner, but we all know the true dream team of "The Good Wife" is Kalinda and Alicia. Kalicia. Not in a romantic way, but in the sense that together, nothing can stop these two. Their relationship is so incredibly fun to watch. I could not be more pleased that the episode picked up with the two of them awkwardly at the bar, downing shots (even if they weren't at the same time) and continuing a bar conversation from two years ago.

"I'm not gay, I'm flexible." The gasps were flying at only about two minutes in.

"We're the dream team." As per usual, "The Good Wife" did another stellar out-of-court episode. After a generous settlement from one of Will's basketball buddies, Louis Canning (returning guest star Michael J. Fox) teamed with Patti Nyholm (returning guest star Martha Plimpton) to sue Lockhart/Gardner for judicial misconduct. Of course, since it's the two of them, there's more than meets the eye. Yes, they wanted to take down Lockhart/Gardner, but they settled for taking away the firm's biggest client and exposing Peter and Alicia's separation. Peter's campaign just got more difficult. It's no secret Michael J. Fox is a great actor and he always delivers on "The Good Wife," but Martha Plimpton doesn't get enough credit for her work as the deliciously conniving Patti Nyholm. When she gets away from "Raising Hope" and comes to play on "The Good Wife," it's a treat. If you're an actor and want to play against type, head to "The Good Wife."

Going up? "The Good Wife" and its love affair with elevators will soon make it into TV history books. The scene assembling Peter, Cary, Alicia, Will, Kalinda and Eli outside the elevator made me laugh more than this show has ever done before. It was pitch-perfect, complete with Will's line about Patti's daughter being the new associate.

Kalinda + Sledgehammer = Ahmahzing. Forget the bat: Your new 'ship is Kalinda and the sledgehammer. The scene where she throws on the glasses, gets the hammer and then goes to town on her wall. Money, a gun and ammo come out of the wall. How bad is her husband? Also, on the topic of her husband: "Alicia Florrick." may be the creepiest line from "The Good Wife" ever. And that's including Colin Sweeney. He's calling Alicia and coming for Kalinda. Season 4 starts when? The way the episode ended with Kalinda perched for confrontation, gun at the ready. Can you say, "Holy crap"?

Will she stay or will she go? Will Alicia go in and have some pizza or carry on with her life? She always gets the emotional cliffhangers. Will Alicia actually sue Jackie? I love how they've cut the BS and just go toe-to-toe now. It makes for incredibly entertaining TV.

"Do you think it was a mistake?" - Will
"No." - Alicia

What do you think ,"Good Wife" fans? Was pairing them off earlier in the season a mistake? Did you like the finale? Excited for Season 4?

Gasp count: Four, two within the first two minutes, one long one at the end.

"The Good Wife" will return for Season 4 on CBS.

It's not every day that TV icons like the cast of "Laverne & Shirley," Kelly Ripa and Fran Drescher gather in one place. But these pros were brought together for the 10th anniversary of the TV Land Awards (taped in early April, airing Sun., April 29, 9 p.m. ET).

This year, "Laverne & Shirley," "Murphy Brown," "In Living Color," "One Day At A Time," Aretha Franklin and Pee-wee Herman were all honored. "Live! With Kelly" host Kelly Ripa returned to host the awards for a second time, citing her love of TV as a reason she said accepted the gig again.

"I am a child of the '70s, so for me, television was it," she told The Huffington Post on the red carpet at the TV Land Awards. "That's what we had. These characters were our lives and I get excited still. I'm still excited seeing Faith Ford as weird as that sounds. I still get excited."

Ford, who was on hand to reunite with the cast of "Murphy Brown" to receive TV Land's Impact Award, co-starred alongside Ripa in "Hope & Faith" from 2003-2006.

But Ripa's excitement didn't stop with Ford. As a young girl, Ripa said she tried to emulate Valerie Bertinelli.

"I love 'One Day at a Time,'" Ripa said of the show, which earned TV Land's Innovator Award. "I used to wear my hair in two braids and Valerie Bertinelli had that flouncy hair. That's all I wanted was flouncy hair. Before my mother would get a chance to braid it, I would comb it to the side and pretend I was Valerie Bertinelli."

Fran Drescher presented "One Day at a Time" with the Innovator Award and said having "The Nanny" receive an honor from TV Land would be nice. "[But] as much as it is nice to be honored with an award, it's the way America has embraced me and the series ... that is the great reward," she said.

"The Nanny" currently bubbled up again in headlines after Drescher appeared on Bravo's "Watch What Happens Live" and read erotic fan fiction featuring her character, Fran Fine, and Maxwell Sheffield. She hadn't heard of it before reading it, but it didn't shock her.

"Oh, I come from Flushing, there's not a lot that's going to make my eyebrow raise," she said. "Believe me." And where would Nanny Fine be right now? After letting out her distinct laugh, Drescher said she thinks Fran and Maxwell are still happily married. "I think now she's happily married, probably, oh about 15 pounds heavier and doing the same old thing, you know?"

"In Living Color" received the Groundbreaking Award at the ceremony, and Ripa said she owes the show for something millions of Americans experience on weekday mornings: her humor.

"'In Living Color' is sort of the reason I have the sense of humor I have," she said. "I religiously watched that show and it really moved me. It spoke to me."

Aretha Franklin, the Queen of Soul, took to the TV Land Awards stage to perform her hits like, "Chain of Fools" and "Respect" and was honored by John Legend with the Icon Award.

"Oh my god, how can you top an icon award?" Franklin said on the red carpet. "It's very, very special. I don't think you can."

Cindy Williams was on hand for the "Laverne & Shirley" reunion as TV Land honored the show with the Fan Favorite Award. Williams, known to fans worldwide as Shirley Feeney, said looking back at the show just brings her to "one big wall of happiness." Williams left the series in 1982: Her character was married off quickly and left Laverne with a note. Where is Shirley now? Williams had an idea. "At this age? She'd be selling Mary Kay," she said with a laugh.

Tune into the TV Land Awards on Sun., April 29, 9 p.m. ET.

"30 Rock" needed a live episode. No, not for the ratings boost it surely got, but for something completely different altogether. The "30 Rock" Season 6 live episode, appropriately titled "Live From Studio 6H," took all the press about the series being on its last legs and turned it into something exciting.

It all started with the sinking ratings. "30 Rock" replaced "Community" on NBC's Thursday schedule at 8 p.m. ET for a few months and sunk even lower in the Nielsen ratings than the struggling "Community." After a move to 8:30 p.m. ET, the show had even fewer viewers, pulling in series low ratings.

Then the tweets starting flying. While voicing frustration over NBC's "Today" having a crew outside his apartment to document a stalking story, series star Alec Baldwin tweeted, saying, "I think I'm leaving NBC just in time."

"30 Rock" star and creator Tina Fey was quick to put the fire out, telling the ladies of "The View" that if NBC orders "30 Rock" Season 7, Baldwin will be there; he just meant "that the end of the show is visible on the horizon."

Baldwin then clarified the tweet himself and said he'll be in "30 Rock" Season 7, but that the show is slated to end next year.

With the plunging ratings and "End of '30 Rock'" headlines, it became somewhat hard to enjoy what was once NBC's brightest comedy. As a viewer and fan, I just felt bad watching the show limp along. If "30 Rock" has a good joke, but nobody is watching it to laugh, is it still funny?

That all changed with the April 26 live episode. The cast seemed so energized. After all the negative press and speculation, there they were, Fey, Baldwin, Jane Krakowski, Tracy Morgan, Jack McBrayer, all ready to entertain. Everybody seemed so excited to be doing what they loved for an audience as enthusiastic as the performers were.

Even if the plot -- Baldwin's Jack Donaghy decides to stop doing the fictional "TGS With Tracy Jordan" sketch show live in order to save money, but McBrayer's Kenneth refuses to let the legacy of live TV die and tells the history of Studio 6H through flashbacks -- wasn't the strongest and didn't further the plot of the season along, the cast made it work. It was an excuse to play dress up and have fun -- and that's just what they did.

It's no secret that Baldwin is an ace at live TV; Fey and Morgan hail from "Saturday Night Live"; and Krakowski is a Broadway veteran. But the Season 6 live show really let Krakowski shine. From the theme song performance right down to the Prince Charles impersonation, Krakowski nailed it as Jenna Maroney. How she has not received an Emmy for her work is astounding. Do the Academy voters really have something against Mickey Rourke sex party jokes?

Along with the treat of seeing these supremely talented performers in their element, we finally got the coveted guest star. No, not Kim Kardashian or Paul McCartney: Amy Poehler. For years when asked about dream "30 Rock" guest stars, Fey would name her good friend, former "SNL" co-star and "Parks and Recreation" star Poehler. During both the East and West Coast versions of "Live From Studio 6H," Poehler appeared as a teenage Liz Lemon, chilling in a basement, making prank calls and eating a cheese steak. It finally happened and it was brilliant. Who would've thought the show could top Julia Louis-Dreyfus appearing as Liz Lemon?

Jon Hamm wasn't the only part of "30 Rock's" past to reappear. Old jokes "I want to go to there" and "Yaburnt!" made a comeback. Considering both of those phrases have made their way into my everyday conversation, it was thrilling to hear them booming from my TV set once again.

"30 Rock's" live show broke the tension surrounding the series and showed viewers this old show still has what it takes to crack smiles and achieve hearty laughs.
